Assam is a state located in the northeastern part of India.         1. Bogamati, Baksa - Bogamati is the most common picnic place, especially for people residing in Kamrup, Barpeta, Nalbari, Baksa and Darrang districts. Covered with dense forest Bogamati is located on the mouth of Barnadi River in the Baksa district of Assam.

        2. Manas National Park - This national park is spread over  Chirang and Baksa district of Assam. Part of it is in Bhutan and is known as Royal Manas national park. It is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site, a Project Tiger reserve, an elephant reserve and a biosphere reserve. Many endangered species including Assam roofed turtle, hispid hare, golden langur and pygmy hog to be seen in this national park. The one horned Rihno can also be spotted during the jungle safari.

        3. Chandubi Lake - This beautiful lake is just 64 KM from Guwahati and is located in kamrup district. Known for its natural beauty, you should never miss the sunset when traveling to Chandubi lake. It is one of the major picnic spots for the people of Guwahati. There is boating and camping available near the lake. Government of Assam have also started annual Chandubi Lake festival to increase tourism in Assam. The festival also showcases rich culutural heritage of the district.

       4. Dipor Bil, Kamrup Metro - Just located just southwest of Guwahati city is another attraction and a one-day outdoor picnic location in lower Assam. Bil which means the lake in Assamese is a permanent freshwater lake. This lake is known for 219 varities of birds including 70 migratory birds. The place is famous among the people of the metro.

        5. Surya Pahar, Goalpara DistrictSri Surya Pahar is an archaeological site. This hilly terrain has several rock-cut Shivalingas, stupas and the deities of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain. There is an open space nearby for a picnic. Sri Surya Pahar is located about 12 km southeast of Goalpara, about 132 km northwest of Guwahati, is a significant but relatively unknown archaeological site in Assam, India. Goalpara is the nearest city from the site. Sri Surya Pahar is very close to the bank of Brahmaputra river, it might have been an important trade centre or seat of administration in the past.The name of 'Sri Surya Pahar' implies that the site was perhaps associated with the form of sun (Surya) worship. Literary accounts corroborate that among other Hindu deities worshipped in ancient Assam, 'Surya' (or the Sun God) occupied a prominent place in its cultural history.

        7. Hahim - Hahim is one of the most visited and loved picnic spots in Assam. The nearest Bhutanese town is Daifam. Bhairabkunda is a sight to behold as the Jampani River, originating from Bhutan, meets the Bhiarabi River. It takes around 3 hours from Guwahati and around 25 minutes from Udalguri to reach Bhairabkunda. The place is very close to nearest village of Bhutan.
