Dhanadhanyo Auditorium - The new Conch shaped Auditorium of Kolkata

The conch shaped auditorium of Kolkata, West Bengal is constructed at Alipore, South Kolkata. It is very close to racecourse and Victoria Palace. The auditorium is 25400-seater in the shape of a Conch considered pristine as per Indians. Dhanadhanyo Auditorium has been inaugurated by West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, to mark Bengali new year, Poila Boishak.



Conch - SHANKH (in Hindi) is of great importance and symbolizes luster, brilliance, purity and auspiciousness in Hindu religion. In India, the sound of the conch is associated with the sacred syllable AUM, the first sound of creation. The spiral clockwise is said to symbolize the expansion of infinite space. The Conch shell was given to us to destroy all evil. Shankh named PANCHJANYA is the fountain that evolves the five elements of creations that is water, air, earth, fire and sky. 

About the Conch shaped Auditorium


The project total cost is 440 Crores and has elevated of 6 floors. The structure is 2.4 meters above stage level, and it consists of the following facilities:

1. Main performance Auditorium for 2000 audience seating arrangements with State of the art infrastructure. 
2. Small performance Auditorium for 400 audience seating arrangements.
3. Open stage for live performances, folk music and plays.
4. Guest house facilities for people or artists who will perform.
5. Resturants and Cafeteria for audience.
6. Mini convention centre facilities with Banquet, meeting hall etc.
7. VIP and Media Louge facilities
8. 2 levels of parking at the basement.
9. Revolving stage: 2 concentric circle
10. Inner circle along with lifts and outer circle rotating 6 discs within.
The whole project also Solar Systems powered along with electrifications.

How to reach the Dhanadhanyo auditorium:


Airport: The nearest airport is is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport at Dumdum, Kolkata. You can book a cab and reach directly to Alipore within 1.5 hours in normal traffic.

Train: Both Howrah and Sealdah train stations is the option to travel by train. How ever the nearest will be Howrah station as it is the closest. Metro rail could also be the option and the closest on will be Exide More station. From there you will get a bus to Dhanadhanyo auditorium.

Road: It can be access by road by driving a car or hiring to the destination. However, you will get buses from the city to Dhanadhanyo auditorium.
