Famous amazing picnic spots in Assam

 


 Assam is a land of beautiful rich culture, diversify landscapes and most beautiful flora and fauna. The middle Assam having these amazing picnic spots once must visit.



        1. Nameri National Park - Nameri National Park is one of the famous picnic spots in Assam. It is located in the Sonitpur district is just about 40 km from Tezpur. The picnic spot is situated at the bank of river Jia Bharali River. It is home to 300 birds species and endangered species like white-winged wood duck. 



        2. Kakochang Waterfall - Kakochang waterfall is also a well-known tourist attraction/picnic spot near Kaziranga. The remains of the historical Numaligarh can also be viewed from this place. The waterfall is located about 13 km from the Bokakhat, a place in the Jorhat Region of Assam. You also get the experience of a 1 km trek when you try reaching this place. 



        3. Akashiganga -  Akashiganga  is a rocky  spot  on a  stream surrounded by forests.  The beauty of the site is enhanced by  a waterfall locally called Akashiganga and this waterfall serves as a natural picturesque background for the temple ruins. Akashiganga is yet another beautiful waterfall located around 50 km from Nagaon. The place is famous for its lush green landscape and high mountains. It is situated close to the Doboka town, and so when you visit this place, apart from enjoying the magnificent waterfall you will also get to learn the historical significance of the Doboka kingdom. You can enjoy a great picnic while also enjoying the grand view of the river Brahmaputra.    




        4. Champawati Kunda - It is located in the Nagaon district of Assam and is about 16km to the east of Nagaon. It is a beautiful waterfall which is also famously known as the Chapnalla falls. During winters, hundreds of tourists visit this place to enjoy the picturesque location. Apart from that, picnickers can also enjoy the beautiful Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary and the Samaguri Beel which are located very near to Champawati Kunda.    



        5. Shivakunda - Located in the Amsoi Hills in the Morigaon district of Assam, the beautiful Shivakunda waterfall is a favorite place for picnickers all around Assam. Around the place, you have other places near it which can be a perfect getaway for you and your friends and family. Campfire is strictly prohibited there because it is a forest area and so you are advised to carry prepared food and water.    



        6. Bhalukpong - Just 60 kilometers from the historic town of Tezpur, located in the foothills of Arunachal, Bhalukpong is a picnic lover’s paradise. It is the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh and during the picnic, the season becomes witness to several picnickers. The spectacular Jia Bharali river encompasses this picnic spot, adding to its beauty.    



        7. Panimur Waterfalls - Panimur is located in Dima Hasao District and is unlike any other waterfall in Assam. This place is beyond beauty that will keep you mesmerized throughout your time there. It not only attracts the people in Assam but also tourists from all over India. The panoramic view of the mountains adds to the beauty of Panimur and keeps the picnic lovers enthralled. It takes around 5-6 hours from Guwahati.    



        8. Bhairabkunda - Bhairabkunda is a much sought-after picnic spot in the Udalguri district of Assam. It is located about 20 km from the headquarters of the Udalguri town. It is a tri-junction between Assam, Bhutan, and Arunachal Pradesh and is located near the Bhutanese town of Daifam. Picnickers can enjoy a beautiful serene getaway whilst enjoying the crystal clear view of the river Dhansiri.
